Southern Chocolate Cobbler

 Directions:

Preheat Oven:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Add Wet Ingredients:

Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
Pour Batter:

Pour the batter into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish.
Prepare Topping:

In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar with boiling water. Slowly pour this mixture over the batter in the baking dish. Do not stir.
Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
Optional Chocolate Chips:

If desired, sprinkle chocolate chips over the cobbler during the last 10 minutes of baking.
Serve:

Allow to cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
