Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

1 lb lean ground beef
4 tsp freshly minced ginger
6 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup low-sodium beef broth
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
4 tbsp hoisin sauce
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
10 oz linguine or fettuccine noodles
1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water
4 green onions, sliced

Stovetop Instructions:
Brown the beef in a skillet over medium-high heat, adding the garlic and ginger for the last 2 minutes.
Cook noodles according to package, drain and set aside.
Drain excess fat from beef, then return to skillet.
Add soy sauce, broth, brown sugar, hoisin, pepper and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to coat beef.
Make a slurry by whisking the cornstarch into water. Pour into skillet and bring sauce to a simmer until thickened.
Add cooked noodles and toss to fully coat in the sauce. Allow to sit for 2-3 minutes so noodles absorb maximum flavor.
